February Cooking Class

February 4  - Mexican cooking class with Jessica, Maribel & Luz
  • Appetizer: Salad of pico de gallo; 
  • Plate: Green enchiladas with chicken and potato; 
  • Dessert: Sweet rice with milk;
  • Infusion (tea) of Jamaican hibiscus flower

November Cooking Class

November 19 - Brazilian cooking class

Daiane is going to teach us how to cook Brazilian food!

The menu will be:
  • “Pão de queijo” (kind of cheese bread) as an appetizer
  • “Feijoada” (bean stew served with collard greens, rice and farofa) as a main dish
  •   Pumpkin compote with coconut for dessert

We will enjoy our lunch together after the cooking class. The cooking class will be held at the First Baptist Church, starting at 9:30 a.m

To join the class, please sign up and pay $5 at any of the regular Thursday meetings. The costs cover ingredients and copies of the recipes.

October Cooking Class

Hungarian Cooking Class

Bhawna will show us how to cook Hungarian food!
The menu isn't quite final yet but it will most probably be:

  • “Beef Gulyas” (Goulash) & “Nokedli” (Hungarian pasta)
  • “Palacsinta” (Hungarian crepes)
  •  and a vegetarian entree, probably “Lesco” (bell pepper stew).

We will enjoy our lunch together after the cooking class. The cooking class will be held at the First Baptist Church, starting at 9:30 a.m.

To join the class, please sign up and pay $5 at any of the regular Thursday meetings. The costs cover ingredients and copies of the recipes.

May Cooking Class

Our next cooking class will be on May 7th at 9:30AM. It will be an Indian Cooking Class.
Charu and Bhawna from India will teach us how to cook 4 traditional meals.

The menu for the cooking class will include the following dishes:

- Poori: a deep fried whole wheat bread
- Aloo ki sabzi:  potatoes in a spicy & tangy tomato based gravy
- Chicken curry: chicken in bone in a spicy onion & cashew nut based gravy
- The Dessert:  "Halwa" is a semolina pudding

Participants will sit down to enjoy the lunch around noon. The class costs only $5, and  you can sign up at any Thursday meeting.

April Cooking Class

Our next cooking class will be on April 16th at 9:30AM. It will be a Japanese Cooking Class. Namiko from Japan will teach us how to cook 4 traditional meals. Three more Japanese members will help her: Aoi, Reiko and Mami.

The menu for the cooking class will include the following dishes:
  • Chirashizushi (vegetarian & non vegetarian)
  • Chicken Teriyaki
  • Miso soup
  • Green tea Cheese Cake

Participants will sit down to enjoy the lunch around noon. The class costs only $5, and  you can sign up at any Thursday meeting.

Our Cooking Group will meet on Wednesday, March 26th at 9:30am.

Joana will teach us a meal of 3 Portuguese dishes:

  • A soup called "Caldo Verde" 
  • Maybe a special sandwich called "Francesinha" 
  • A dessert called "Salame de Chocolate"
